The Gutenberg museum has been welcoming visitors since 4 November 2005. The restored granary, which was built in 1527, is a worthy setting for the unique exhibition covering an area of over 1000 m2.

The museum aims to make the different aspects of printing and communication comprehensible .Laymen, specialists, school classes, children and adults are invited into the exciting world of the art of printing. In the permanent exhibition, visitors gain an historical insight into the development in Europe. Life-size wax figures and printing machines from different epochs impressively illustrate the history of this trade and branch of industry.

The development of the word, language, signs and script is shown in a fascinating and educational Multimedia Show, offering an excellent overview of the cultural-historical background of printing.

The Atelier, where courses are also held, demonstrates the traditional typesetting and bookbinding techniques through presentations.

Alternating exhibitions serve to reinforce, or to present themes specifically related to printing.
